The Challenge: Managing a Massive Medical Expansion

DPR Construction faced the daunting task of expanding Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital by over half a million square feet while passing more than 56,000 inspections and navigating frequent construction changes. The key challenge was finding a cost-effective solution to streamline this highly complex and time-sensitive project.

The Solution: Inertia’s Intelligent Construction Drawings

To meet these demands, DPR implemented Inertia’s Intelligent Construction Drawings (ICDs). These digital tools enabled real-time visibility, simplified inspection approvals, and ensured better collaboration by mapping and tracking every change in the project, from in-wall installations to overhead structures.

The Outcome: A Healthier Project Timeline

Thanks to Inertia’s ICDs, DPR completed the hospital expansion efficiently, achieving a 90% inspection pass rate across 56,815 requests and supporting 568 users. The technology eliminated weeks of delays, boosted transparency, and enabled a smoother closeout—ultimately delivering a major win for both the construction team and the community.
